In the summer of 1976 the water level at Redmire fell drastically, for the first time in its history, reducing the surface area to about half. With the extraordinarily high temperatures that were experienced over a long period of time, the carp at Redmire appeared on the surface from shortly after dawn till well into the night. On occasions they remained on the surface right through the night.
Fishing was hardly worthwhile, the carp being rarely interested in feeding. Most of their time was spe…

I have had a few more blanks on the bank, fishing Motorway several times (I love this water) one overnight session on Woodall’s and a 48hr blank on doctors pond. Then last month I was invited by a friend to fish with him on Oakland’s. this was my first time on Oakland’s and at first sight of my swim the only words to describe it was, sardines in a can, with anglers not 10 yard apart on one bank and only 2 fishing the far bank I asked the bailiff if a swim was free on the far bank and to my joy i…

As could be expected, on arriving at the lake for my first session on a Sunday morning in June, I paid the bailiff for my syndicate ticket and strolled down the lake with two rods, a chair and a holdall. A little sandwich tub with packets of terminal tackle and the rest of the space taken up with different size and flavour pellets, three different pop-ups, and a rather large selection of half used bags of shelflife baits I had gathered during the last year for fishing on a dayticket lake closeby…

The Carp eh?? What a fascinating creature. Just like us humans really if you think about it....they can be so moody, one minute they're up for it, the next......actually sounds like the missus!!!
It was Arthur Ransome who wrote "Swallows and Amazons" who said "Hooking a Carp is like be…

No surprise. Yet again that poor excuse for a fisherman robson Green the worst I've ever seen, has been on BBC Breakfast TV publicly announcing and I quote "I kill and eat what I catch, I believe once a fish has been caught and landed it is then past the point of recovery, if returned 9 out of 10 fish will die."
Is this guy for real? his comments have set fishing back years!
He also said they are flapping about so it's obvious they are in pain-What a knobson!-he puts the cause of angling back…

I had a day session at Passies Ponds today, I arrived at the fishery at about quarter past ten in the morning and quickly set up a couple of legers which were both cast in open water. Both rods were fished with hair-rigged 6mm pellet hookbaits, I had a Carp Vader Pol…

If there is one thing that is lacking on all fishing websites and forums it is Carp fishing information.
so what could be better than our own carpspace network "carpedia"
This is like a Wiki Pedia and by having this on carpspace will over time evolve into a huge carp fishing data base/dictionary.
to see what were talking about when you visit carpedia go to the search box on the left and type in boilies and you will be taken to a result, the idea is that members can edit and add information for o…

Friday 23rd may 08
I arrived at my syndicate water in cambridgeshire. The weather was wet and windyto say the least!
At about 3pm i set my 2 carp rods up with single pineapple boilies on method feeders,
Fishing on the bottom of the marginal shelf just off the island in front of me,
By 9.30pm I had caught 17 bream between 4lb-9lb 03oz for 89lb 14oz,
I decided to call it a day and get up at 5pm and have a go at the bream on a feeder rod,
After all if the carp are not in front of me I might as wel…
