We boarded his boat in tampa and started of fishing for red fish with no luck so we went and collected some bait fish to catch spanish mackeral. The spanish were great fun on light gear putting up a good fight and changing direction in the blink of an eye then my rod bent right over as a mystery fish made a long run it took me all the way round the boat before surfacing… Continue

AndyL Last trip of April

Went to my usual Essex lake and found the Carp spawning - thought it was going to be a good day too, sunny and warm with just the right amount of cloud cover.... I found a corner of the lake where the Carp that weren't spawning had gathered under an overhanging tree and managed five to 14lb plus a 15lb Catfish... not bad but all the bigger fish were absent apart from one I couldn't keep away from the snags and lost.... My friend Chris had a 3lb Bream from open water and the biggest fish of the… Continue

carl street catch report update

I have had a few more blanks on the bank, fishing Motorway several times (I love this water) one overnight session on Woodall’s and a 48hr blank on doctors pond. Then last month I was invited by a friend to fish with him on Oakland’s. this was my first time on Oakland’s and at first sight of my swim the only words to describe it was, sardines in a can, with anglers not 10 yard apart on one bank and only 2 fishing the far bank I asked the bailiff if a swim was free on the far bank and to my joy i… Continue

carl street Quest for a 30lb Carp

As could be expected, on arriving at the lake for my first session on a Sunday morning in June, I paid the bailiff for my syndicate ticket and strolled down the lake with two rods, a chair and a holdall. A little sandwich tub with packets of terminal tackle and the rest of the space taken up with different size and flavour pellets, three different pop-ups, and a rather large selection of half used bags of shelflife baits I had gathered during the last year for fishing on a dayticket lake closeby… Continue

carl street Why carp?

The Carp eh?? What a fascinating creature. Just like us humans really if you think about it....they can be so moody, one minute they're up for it, the next......actually sounds like the missus!!! It was Arthur Ransome who wrote "Swallows and Amazons" who said "Hooking a Carp is like be… Continue

carl street Robson green a fisherman?

No surprise. Yet again that poor excuse for a fisherman robson Green the worst I've ever seen, has been on BBC Breakfast TV publicly announcing and I quote "I kill and eat what I catch, I believe once a fish has been caught and landed it is then past the point of recovery, if returned 9 out of 10 fish will die." Is this guy for real? his comments have set fishing back years! He also said they are flapping about so it's obvious they are in pain-What a knobson!-he puts the cause of angling back… Continue

jamie anderson one amazing day

On saturday me and my dad went fishing. After casting into a shallow area and had nothing i moved my bait to deeper water and at around three oclock i had a slow take on my left hand rod and after a short fight a tench was brought to the net. On the scales it went to five and a half pounds my biggest ever tench. Then an hour later a take came on my other rod and after a superb fight a seventeen and a half pound common was in the net. Then as we started to pack up i had another tench of five poun… Continue
