I'd ring up first and ask about spawning before choosing as the Carp are starting to spawn in shallower lakes now and the deeper ones wont be far behind....
A good shallow lake is Chart Fishery at Chart Sutton in Kent... you can catch all day lon...

- i'm 24 and i live in Liphook, Hampshire. Love fishing although don't really get to go as much as i would like. Been fishing for 16 years, initially as a match angler although more recently i have become a "speci-head" primarily focusing on carp, still waiting to break the magic 30 mark. Still like to fish for other species such as chub, bream, tench, roach or anything really that you have to work hard to catch and not just dab the bait in the water.

Ben said… - Friday was not the best of days :-) One Roach and a Perch and not even a sniff on the deadbait??? But that was forgotten on Sunday, went for a roving trotting session down the Blackwater all I was getting was Gudgeon and tha odd Perch. Went back to my car and got the quiver out and settled to see it out in the second swim I came to. Same Gudg and Perch but decided I'd sacrifice my cheese slices out of my butties and ended up with seven Chub all over 2lb :-) Happy as the preverbial pig.
