Share 'Hemp seed.'

I use to buy crushed hemp seed (which was dry) and use it with ground bait for feeder fishing. The shop now only sells hemp seed, which i have been told needs to be prepared. Can anyone tell me if i can just buy the seed and grind it down fine enough to use for feeder fishing or ground bait, or do i have to cook it. In which case how do i dry it out so that i can keep it in air tight tubs till ...
