Rory,
Well u know me, i fish for all sorts when the time is good for each species.. Like piking will be good to april, trout rivers good early march then the lakes for trout in april./ may. Tench aswell, then the evenings for trout on the rivers in jUNE/jULY. Carp, aswell in and out among the rest, plus competitions and trips.. The season is too short, or is it just me. Think i will have to give up work, it just keeps getting in the way.
Regards,
denis

Waiting for the duck fly to start, then its all guns blazing till the end of the may fly. hope to hit a few rivers and mountain loughs as well .The coarse fish on the Corrib are going get some much needed and serious attention this summer have a few spots in mind will let ye know how i get on . Its going to be a challenge but i know that there is a serious amount of roach and perch around all summer. Like Denis that work thing keeps getting in the way !!
Tight lines

Well Rory its looking like there is only two more piking sessions left for me this season, I haven't been getting out as much as I would like since Aoife was born, the biggest i had this season so far was 16lb from our usual spot,so hopefully the next two outings throw up a good one, the Match season starts on 6th of April so thats going to keep me busy up until October and then its back to the Pike please God,wouldn't mind meeting up with yourself and Denis for one of my last outings

have been fishing for silvers for pas 2 weekends getting some nice bags of roach from a canal near toome, part of the river bann navigation channel. had 11lb yesterday in 2 hours, not bad fr an amateur! ts getting frustrating waiting for temperatures to rise enough for th bream and hybrids to show, they can be caught from newferry stretch of bann in winter but the river is still very high and current is bombing through! any recommendations for lakes near the border?

Well i have put the pike gear away and took myself out for an early Tench/Bream session(3 nights). Sadly though no fish put in an appearance for my troubles. My excuse....a cold north wind howling over the bivvy all weekend.Anyone else out and how was it for you?

Rory, last fished it a couple of years ago match style over night, hard work, corn, worm, maggot, caster all catch, its near ballyconnell,in cavan...my friend who lives near ther fished it last year and had some good bags with ind fish up to 8lb plus...quite shallow but at about 60yds there is a old r/bed wher it drops down to about 12ft,this is where the fish are,as i said a good weekend s fishing req to get the best, only parking for about 2 cars and about 3/4 swims, you will need either to sit out from the bank or have your rods on a pod,i intend to give it a go this spring/summer fishing 2 rods on a pod, method feeder etc, there are some real lumps in there if you put in the work,if you want we could meet up and have ago, braid would be the best bet due to the distances involved....good luck hope this is of use to you
