ok we all know that fishing is wonderful with the greatest experiences. however there must be a downside.
the kit bag breaking miles from anywhere
an 8 hour session in freezing rain without so much as a twitch
the superfast row boat zooming through your carefully set rig and costing you a hundred meters of line
the idiot that pops up and asks "do fish feel pain" scaring away that record chub you had stalked for 5 hours and which was just about to take the bait
being woken by your bite alarm to find its your mate tugging it

for me it is knots. i have been told i am good at them. i can successfully tie a 22 spade end. however other than the basic hook tying any other knot is going to produce a storm of bad language and a desire to kill someone before it is successfully completed. i can recall a knot failure other than right at the start but i would imagine that is even worse.

so come and share those moments of fishing life you feel we would be better off without.

as a mother who has been known to try and take 4 kids fishing at one (hence the mad lol) i can appreciate some of the hasles of children fishing and yes i do appreciate alone time on the water. however if i am out alone and someone elses kids do turn up i have found i get less stressed and more enjoyment if instead of teeth grinding about lack of parents i try to help them myself - it can be anything from a quite pointer on "polite etiquette" such as NOT using the very next swim to sorting out birds nests whilst explaining how to avoid them in future and knot tying. ok when this happens i dont catch many fish, but chances are with the disturbance i wouldnt of anyway, but it does mean that when important stuff like proper fish handling comes up, i can bark a bit and be listened too -besides there is a satisfaction in watching the kid you helped last saturday totally womp a friend, older brother or even dad this saturday.

mind you this doesnt give me any tolerance for NON fishing kids whose parents stand there chatting whilst their little darlings fiddle with my gear. i have no problem teaching an interested child, but rude ignorant little uh "rays of sunshine" do my head in
