maggot for me every time due being able to land fish of practicaly every species to specimen proportions simply by addapting your approach. For the predators it would be Smelt for the Pike and small roach for the Zander

I think for me it's got to be paste.
Very versatile - You can modify flavours, colours, consistency, buoyancy, size etc. to suit the species you are targeting and the time of year, water conditions and so on.
Pike-wise I find Sardines pretty hard to beat, with smelts a close second.

tails up ocm its the dogs, it will catch 365 days of the year, i had 8 fish last jan/feb to 29lbs 4ozs whilst others blanked an excellent boilie, i use the small dumbell.

i rly love caster wen im on the pole, but if im on the method, i know this mite sound abit crazy, but small chunks of banana, especially wen the water is not very clear, the very strong smell and bright colours work brilliantly

for bream and tench its got to be 4 red maggots for carp lob worm or 4 white maggots
