Was at one of my local ponds when a whole family of eastern europeans!! turned up with a camper van ,minding my own business in the rain when I noticed they where setting up a bbq..I thought well they must be brave wind howling and rain pouring but each to there own, cutting a long story short a carp was caught by the family and was just about to be put on the bbq ,i noticed all this going on and legged it over to the bbq well not legged it exactly im slightly disabled,.screaming like a banshee I got the poor fish and in no uncertain terms told them they cant eat it...luckily the balliff must have heard the commotion and kicked them out..carp is spending happy times in the pond now..anyone else had this sort of thing happen??

You would.nt believe the problems we're having in blackburn.A whole 3 miles of the leeds-liverpool canal has been stripped bare. They take everything,From a 2oz roach or perch to a 25lb pike or carp.EVERYTHING.God help the trout & chub,When they move onto the small rivers.

Hi joel this has to be nipped in the bud now...but who listens?? we all have to keep our eyes and ears to the ground...and fishery owners and baliffs need to do more...This particular bunch didnt even have a rod licence

i have reading anglers mail for a couple of months this sort of thing is in there the whole time. apparentely in eastern europe carp is caught and eaten as we do with trout. the problem is getting across that over here we DO NOT eat our carp (or pike that happens too) i think somewhere there is an online petition on this subject to make this suject to law maybe someone knows the details so we can all go and sign it?

my name is estelle, but mad mother is just as good lol. from what i am reading the environment agency is being of no help in this matter, making no effort to apply the full strength of the law. you or i get caught without a licence its bye bye tackle and a big fine on top with the er i will be polite and call them new comers its a verbal warning which some claim not to understand because of the language!!!! i do not believe it is intentional from all new comers and most will be fine with a little education on how fishing works here but some definetly take the p*** using those cheap kids rods and claiming they dont understand english. by the way i'll bet you've taken the lid off a can of worms with this post, but it does need shouting about.

This things happened a few times on the river chelmer, once me and a friend went down the river and one of the best pegs was full of rubbish, a load of chub scales on the floor and i tiny bbq, this really anoys me as one of the best pegs is trashed and no one can be botherd to do anything. This also has happened to a fishery near me, me and my friend found a 25 pound wire trase hammerd to the ground with a 9 pound top condition carp on the end, luckly anglers like us care.

well in the interest of spreading the word i have decided to go post this problem on the sky news disscussion site. this needs to be heard outside the sport because it has to stop and the only way to get things heard is to make enough noise.

i have just posted this statement on sky news discusssions. "all over the country ponds, lakes and stretches of water are being stripped of life. this is not due to pollution or mismanagement. it is due to the arrival of immigrants from eastern europe. one of the customs they bring with them is the eating of ALL freshwater fish not just trout. in their homelands this may not be a problem, it has happened for generations and the balance of nature is adjusted. in this country though the effects are devestating. anglers in this country use a catch and release method, they catch a fish, weigh it,takes its picture, andrelease it unharmed to grow bigger and breed. fishing licence money is cleaning and repairing our rivers. now in a few months a piece of water can be left lifeless as our new residents come to the water catch everything they can, leaving large numbers dead on the bank and selling or eating the rest. if this continues our rivers lakes and ponds are going to return to how they were at the height of the industrial pollution era. dead! " i will let you all know what response it gains.
