I read in some carp mags that vitalin dog food make an excellent method mix, and ground down is brilliant for ground bait base. And i did get good results. The thing is when i first tried a few months back i could buy it anywhere. Now i can't seem to find it. I have tried ALL the super markets, which is where i use to get it. I can buy 15kg bags from pet stores, but can't store that amount. Does anybody know of some other bag of dry dog mix i could use instead?.

Hi steve i have a few sugestions have you had a look at rabbit or bird food which has vitalin in it or by searching the internet you can find what you are looking fore. You can even make your own.

I got onto Vitalin last year and used it as a base for several spod mixes. You say you can't store the 15kg bags but I bought several of those clear plastic boxes from the cheap stores, you see them everywhere about £3 -4 each and I stack them in the garage. I keep all my dry baits in them and the mice can't get at them. If you have any spare room the box doesn't take up much room and doesn't smell (keeps the wife off your back!). Otherwise why not split the sack between a few mates?

hi David. that sounds like a great idea, i'm limited to space as shed is full of tackle and yes i do get mice in there. I do have some of those storage boxes and will try to make some space and give it a go. cheers
