depends on what happens to the weather. if it gets really warm like last year then i'd say boilies or pellets but if the water is still cold then i'd suggest maggots on a maggot clip or lobworm.

Hi there,
Just to add -- try and avoid bait with a high oil content (ie halibut pellets, pepperami ,oily glugs) far better to use boilies especially made for cold temperatures (most companys do a winter mix).
How about single small pop-ups.flouros for the smaller CATCHER waters and natural dark colors for the wiser bigger fish. Lighter more delicate rigs with smaller hooks can also help but Dont forget.- location location location and dont get swept along by the old writings that in cold water temperatures you need to find the deeper water. cause believe me carp WILL feed in shallow water.
Finding the carp is 90% of the jigsaw, even if it takes you several hours to find them.after all 3 hours spent fishing a swim full a carp is better than 12 hours fishing an empty swim totally devoid of any carp.
It's a bit late but i hope this advice helps.
Good luck Nick.
